Norwich Airport is celebrating the opening of its new duty free shop following a major upgrade which is the first significant step towards the airport transforming its retail offer.
The new walkthrough store covering in excess of 200m² opened at the weekend and offers an extensive range of duty and tax free goods. It takes the airport shopping experience to another level for the 500,000 plus passengers who use Norwich Airport every year.
The store has been fitted out over the last two months by global travel retailer Dufry and will be operated under its World Duty Free brand as part of a 12-year contract.
As well as stocking leading brands, the store offers Dufry’s Reserve and Collect service which allows customers to pre-order their purchases from thousands of products online and collect them when they fly from Norwich Airport.
Norwich Airport Managing Director Richard Pace said: “This new store will absolutely transform the shopping experience for Norwich Airport’s customers and we’re delighted to be partnering with Dufry to bring their World Duty Free brand to Norwich.”
Norwich Airport is part of Regional and City Airports (RCA), the airport management division of Rigby Group plc, which also owns and operates Coventry Airport, Exeter Airport and Bournemouth Airport. Dufry already operates the travel retail stores in both Exeter and Bournemouth.
Fred Creighton, Dufry’s Divisional CEO for UK and Central Europe, said: “We would like to thank the partners of RCA for the trust they have placed in us and are delighted to have won this new contract at Norwich Airport. RCA is one of the most innovative regional airport operators in the UK and we look forward to working with them to realise their vision for a new retail experience at Norwich Airport.”
The new duty free store is part of an ongoing programme of investment at Norwich Airport which has also seen the airport’s executive lounge upgraded in recent months.
